About the region
Ulverstone is located on the north-west coast of Tasmania between the cities of Devonport and Burnie. The many beaches, rivers and forested hinterland all within reasonable proximity are an attraction for people who choose to live here.
Agriculture, forestry, mining, tourism and maritime freight services along with a mixture of commercial businesses are the economic mainstays of the north-west coast.

The climate is appealing as the north-west coast does not suffer the temperature extremes of other areas of Tasmania winter and summers are mild and the coastal location attracts the wind to some extent.

The region boasts two tertiary hospitals and two airports that have daily flights to Melbourne.  The Spirit of Tasmania has daily sailings from Devonport to Melbourne.

About the local community
With a population of about 10,000, Ulverstone is well serviced by banks, supermarkets, clothing stores, chemists and other mixed businesses along with many great restaurants and cafes.  A town that is just the right size to offer a feeling of community, provides a perfect lifestyle for people of all ages.  Ulverstone is divided by the Leven River which is popular during summer for fishing, swimming, boating, water skiing and other water recreational pursuits.  An active surf life saving club offers activities for children, teenagers and adults.  There are active swimming, tennis, soccer, softball, basketball, cricket, netball, football and judo clubs.

There are three public primary schools and a public high school in the town as well as Leighlands Christian School which is a K-12 private school.   Additionally a Catholic primary school offers K-6 with parents having the choice of either St Brendan-Shaw College in Devonport or Marist Regional College in Burnie for Year 7 12 education.

The University of Tasmania has a campus located in Burnie that is continually growing and offers a range of first and second year courses.

There are a range of childcare options and before and after school care is provided as well.

Ulverstone has a very active Rotary and Lions Club and a number of festivities throughout the year that encourage community participation.
