About the region Ulverstone is located on the north-west coast of Tasmania between the cities of Devonport and Burnie. Agriculture, forestry, mining, tourism and maritime freight services along with a mixture of commercial businesses are the economic mainstays of the north-west coast.
The climate is appealing as the north-west coast does not suffer the temperature extremes of other areas of Tasmania winter and summers are mild and the coastal location attracts the wind to some extent.
