Latrobe Family Medical Practice is seeking a GP to join our well established progressive practice. During 2007 our practice is relocating to new premises, giving us an increased number of consulting and treatment areas, as well as waiting room and car parking. The new location has lovely views across the wooded hillside, which has a beautiful walking track at its base. We currently have 6 GPs on the team including 4 Owner Associates. We are prepared to negotiate the number of sessions worked by the new GPs. The position offered is Part Time or Full Time employee, with view to becoming an associate, either as an owner or non-owner. Our practice is fully accredited with AGPAL and is committed to providing a full range of quality health care to the community. Our support staff are friendly, helpful and very dedicated. As our name suggests, the practice is family-focused.

The Latrobe Family Medical Practice is a long established and valued health provider in the Tasmanian community. It has been in existence at 120 Gilbert Street, Latrobe for about 100 years, making it one of the oldest practices in Australia. Latrobe has a substantial historic settlement which is situated on the Mersey River and is surrounded by rich agricultural farms. Our team of dedicated Doctors and staff take great pride in providing quality health care to the local community. Some of our special interest areas are womens health, food intolerance, mental health, asthma, diabetes, paediatrics and Veterans Affiars.
GPs at our practice enjoy autonomous practice but also enjoy working as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team including community health nurses and local allied health professionals. The Mersey Campus of North West Regional Hospital is situated at Latrobe.

About the Position
The GP position offered is for a Part Time or Full Time employee, with view to becoming an associate, either as an owner or non-owner. Applicants need to demonstrate a commitment to rural general practice. Our practice has signed a formal agreement with General Practice Training Tasmania (GPTT) in order to provide clinical supervision and assistance for trainee GPs who join our practice.
GPs at our practice enjoy autonomous practice but also enjoy working as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team including community health nurses and local allied health professionals. The Mersey Campus of North West Regional Hospital is situated at Latrobe.
The Position in Summary

After hours service provision shared roster for on call and weekend sessions at the surgery (the number of call-outs is minimal due to GP Assist phone triaging service)
Suitably skilled to provide a range of clinical services including consulting, minor surgery and counselling
An understanding of the Medical Director program is an advantage
All GPs are involved with providing supervised clinical experience for medical and nursing students
