Deloraine Medical Centre is an accredited, computerised, full time country practice. Deloraine is midway between the cities of Launceston (pop 80,000) and Devonport (pop 25,000). The practice is seeking a full time GP to replace a GP who is retiring.
Deloraine is a beautiful country town of about 2000 people. It is located on the Meander River in north-west Tasmania, 48 km west of Launceston and is home to the nationally renowned annual Craft Fair. Deloraine is the business centre for the region's rich agricultural enterprises and is set in the foothills of the Great Western Tiers providing spectacular views and close proximity to well know fly-fishing spots. The Practice provides VMO services to he Deloraine Hospital which, is a 28 bed facility and incorporates Child Health Services, School Dental Clinic, and Community Health and Day Care facilities. There are three ambulances located in the town, two resident paramedics and a very active State Emergency Service. Our practice provides support to Grenoch Nursing Home and Kanangra Hostel. A podiatrist, dental prosthetist, psychologist, dietition, mental health nurse and diabetic educator provide visiting services to the community. About the position The position in summary

About our local GP Division About our region The business centre has a number of clothing shops, a large supermarket, hardware store, many galleries and a number of great cafe's and resturants - if you are used to the cosmopolitan lifestyle - Deloraine will cater for your needs. The region consists of many entrepreneurs who have grown very sustainable businesses and added to the attractiveness of the area. They include the Christmas Hills Raspberry Farm, Ashgrove Cheese, ETC Cafe, a Salmon farm, a honey tourism venture, and a nationally renowned jeweller. As a result of Deloraine's humble beginnings in the mid 1800's there are many beautiful large estates and Federation homes and pubs - this architecture adds to the appeal of the community. Sporting enthusiasts are well catered for with the town having a heated swimming pool (open during summer only), tennis courts, football club, basketball and netball clubs and a gym. A circular path has been developed around the river and proves popular for those who like to walk for exercise.
