Locum opportunities In Tasmania

If you are looking for a change of scenery Tasmania has a range of locum opportunities in seaside hamlets, rural townships, and larger provincial centres. GP Workforce Tasmania regularly gets requests from GP practices seeking short-term and long-term locums. Short-term locums will need to be eligible for unconditional registration with the Medical Council of Tasmania.

Please find below a list of requests for locum cover in Tasmania for 2008 and early 2009. Please give us a ring or contact us by email if you are able to assist for even part of the time period at any of the following locations.

Please find below an updated list  of requests for locum cover in Tasmania for 2009. 

 1.          EXTREMELY URGENT GP practice - Scottsdale Medical Centre, North East Tasmania is urgently requiring locum cover from 06   July 2009.  There is capacity for 2 locums to  work in either the main practice and a satellite at Bridport.  Part-time work is also available.   Excellent remuneration on offer, and little or no after hours.  No VMO work in hospital.

2.          URGENT Locum required immediately for urban based solo GP practice at Kings Meadows.  Monday to Friday work only and after hours can be negotiated.  Travel, accommodation and a vehicle provided.

3.         URGENT/NEW Locum required for Richmond in the south of the State from early July either for a short term or longer term – the  practice is very flexible.  Travel, accommodation and a vehicle supplied.  The practice is currently a 2 x GP practice and uses GP Assist but does have some after hours on a roster system and a Saturday morning Clinic.

4.         NEW  Locum required for solo practice in New Norfolk in the south of the State from 31 August to 02 October 2009.  No after  hours or on call.  There is a group practice in the same town.

5.          Locum required for Smithton (North West coast) from 17-21 August 2009.  VMO required at local hospital.  Travel,  accommodation and vehicle supplied.  Private locum preferable please.

6.          AMENDED DATES - Locum required for Georgetown practice (North) from September to mid November 2009.  VMO required at the local state-run hospital.  Travel, accommodation and vehicle provided.

7.          Locum required for Somerset in North West from 25 November to 24 December 2009.  Travel, accommodation and a vehicle     supplied.  After hours can be negotiated. UNDER NEGOTIATION

8.         NEW Locum required from 4-15 January 2010 at Smithton (North West).  Travel accommodation and vehicle supplied.  Private locum preferable please.

9.      NEW Locum required from 01 March to 12 March 2010 at Smithton (North West).  Travel accommodation and vehicle supplied.  private locum preferable please.
