About the role of GP Workforce Tasmania
GP Workforce Tasmania facilitates the recruitment of doctors for rural practices. GPW convenes the GP Clinical Assessment Panel which assesses the suitability of overseas-trained doctors to work in specified rural areas experiencing GP workforce shortages.

About medical registration
Doctors working in Tasmania need to obtain medical registration from the Medical Council of Tasmania.

About medical indemnity
The Medical Indemnity Protection Society provides medical indemnity cover for GPs in Tasmania.

About immigration

There are three GP Divisions supporting rural GPs in Tasmania. Each Division provides a regional focus for GPs practicising in specified areas of the State. In addition to the Commonwealth's primary health programs the Divisions are able to provide advice on such issues as practice accreditation, practice management, etc.
